Middle East: Exhibitions on the Rise at ADNEC
Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Centre (ADNEC) has recorded a 56 percent increase in the number of exhibitions held during the first half of 2014, compared to the same period last year.
The venue hosted 28 exhibitions in the six months to the end of June 2014, up from 18 exhibitions last year.
A number of new events contributed to the rise. Among them was the Global Forum for Innovations in Agriculture, a food security platform, which took place in Abu Dhabi for the first time and attracted 3,000 thought-leaders, industry professionals and experts.
Additional calendar highlights included EcoWaste, part of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, and ABILITIESme, a first-of-its-kind event in the region that sought greater inclusion and integration of people with disabilities and special needs into mainstream society.
His Excellency Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, Managing Director of ADNEC said: “This continued growth in our operational performance and the development of the wider business tourism industry in Abu Dhabi underscores the vital contribution this sector makes to the emirate’s economic development.”
“By reinforcing our internal stakeholder relationships, building new external partnerships, continuously improving our value proposition and investing in our people, we will continue to forge ahead with our strategic objective of increasing our economic impact across several industries in Abu Dhabi,” added H.E Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri. “We are confident 2014 will witness further growth for our business.”
