Middle East: Boutique Appeal

In partnership with:

With its two compact meeting rooms with capacity for up to 25 theatre-style, Centro Barsha – Dubai is courting repeat business from local clients thanks to a flexible approach.

As office space becomes highly sought after in Dubai, smaller-scale meetings are spilling out into local hotels and Centro Barsha is capitalising on the trend by servicing a number of regular clients from the local area.

“As companies grow, their own internal meeting space is often converted into offices so we provide some much needed space, as well as a different setting away from the normal working environment for a wide range of purposes,” said General Manager Eleni Tsolakou.

Typical booking are for include sales meetings, in-house training and regular company meetings, as well as new concept presentations and product launches.

“The meeting facilities are often booked at short notice, so it helps that my entire team is involved, and we are flexible,” continued Tsolakou.

Offering a bespoke service is a vital part of the proposition. “As a boutique hotel, the entire team is often involved in ensuring the smooth running of all activities, including meetings,” she said. “We are flexible on what we offer, tailoring everything according to the needs and requests of our guests.

As we are small and the whole team is involved, meeting participants will not be lost in the crowd, but will be recognised and taken care of by the entire hotel team.”

Having a short turnaround time is a major benefit that allows the property to cater for pressing requests.

“Set up can take place the night before if we have a breakfast meeting, or the team will prepare the room as soon as they arrive on duty in the morning,” said Tsolakou. “With furniture storage located conveniently close to the meeting room, it does not take the team long to rearrange the seating patterns or bring in the required equipment. The rooms are situated adjacent to the restaurant, so no complicated F&B arrangements are necessary. The whole design is one of convenience for both the guest and ease of operation for the hotel.

“The team works very well together, so with everyone cooperating and supporting each other, the room can be turned around in less than one hour,” said Tsolakou. “The design of the hotel is very user friendly and this is one of the advantages of a boutique hotel – everything is close by.”
