Middle East and Africa's Top New Hotels for Meetings & Events




It's hardly a secret that the Middle East and Africa are getting some top-notch luxury hotels from world-class brands—and that these hotels are boosting the region's profile for high-level business functions. Here are just a few notable properties that have opened in 2013. See why they're good picks for swank meetings and events...

Anantara Dubai The Palm Resort and Spa

This Asian-style resort has 293 guest rooms and suites grouped in units of four to eight (with 130 rooms offering direct access to 107,639 square feet of lagoon pools), 12 beach villas, 18 over-water villas — the first of their kind in the Middle East — and three Royal Beach Villas. The ballroom, right next to the beach, can accommodate 300 people for mid-scale gatherings. 

Kempinski Hotel Villa Rosa, Nairobi 
The Villa Rosa Kempinski hotel (pictured below) is right in the middle of of Nairobi, and has 200 rooms and suites across 10 floors, including a Presidential Suite (with a private terrace, plunge pool and BBQ) on the top floor. The main ballroom, which has no pillars, can accommodate 600 for a reception or 500 theater-style.

Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi
This 532-room luxury resort is the first Ritz-Carlton in Abu Dhabi and the ninth property in the Middle East for the luxury hotel operator. It has 23,484 square feet of flexible meeting space, and is reportedly a popular pick for product launches. For smaller gatherings, the hotel has 14  meeting rooms, and the 16,685 square foot Roma Ballroom (divisible by three) is a good pick for larger events. 

Rosewood Abu Dhabi
This swank new hotel (pictured right) has an impressive 17,808 square feet of indoor meeting space, including two ballrooms, two meeting rooms, four boardrooms and outdoor function space for up to 1,040 guests. All venues have high-speed Internet access as well as A/V services. For smaller gatherings, the upcoming Royal Suite will have a central gathering area as well as a private dining room.

Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem
Right in the middle of Jerusalem, this hotel (pictured below) has eight flexible meeting rooms and a Grand Ballroom that can accommodate up to 890 people for a reception. The ballroom can also be divided into three distinct rooms for smaller events, each configuration getting its own name. 

Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah, UAE
Located in one of the smaller Emirates, this hotel is a good pick for smaller scale events, with the Ruby Room accommodating up to 90 for a reception. It has a VIP arrival hall and multiple pre-function spaces. Its boardroom can host to 20 people.
