Qatar MICE Development Institute (QMDI) has announced that it will be hosting Meeting Professionals International’s (MPI) Global Certificate in Meeting Operations 1(GCMO) in Qatar. MPI’s GCMO 1 is designed to address the basic to intermediate skills necessary in becoming a successful event and meeting professional. The course will be conducted by MPI’s international trainers who will share first hand knowledge in organizing events as well as global best practices. In addition to the interactive and essential learning experience, delegates will have to pass an evaluation and assessment to obtain their GCMO 1 certification.

The intensive course provides a semester’s worth of practical knowledge and comprehensive understanding of event management and operations. The GCMO 1’s tried-and-proven curriculum covers the following topics:

- Management methodology in planning meetings and events

- Venue operations and selection

- Budgeting and evaluating the financial impact (ROI)

- Contracting and addressing legal issues

- Event registration and housing

- Plan food and beverage functions within budget

- Trouble shoot audio-visual problems

- Accurately apply the steps in risk assessment

- Design a marketing plan for an event

- Setting an ethical agenda
