MPI names Qatar first of 14 training centres

The Qatar MICE Development Institute (QMDI) has become one of the first Global Training Centres for Meetings and Business Events by Meetings Professionals International (MPI) as the industry association looks to roll out 14 such institutes over the next two years.

Joining QMDI in the first phase of MPI-accredited training centres is the San Diego State University and France’s CERAM Business School. The three establishments will play a crucial role in the delivery of the MPI Global Knowledge Plan.

“MPI recognised a need for a standardised body of knowledge that will enable meeting and event professionals to obtain globally transferable skills and competencies,” said Didier Scaillet, chief development officer, MPI.

The launch of the first three MPI Global Training Centres for Meetings and Business Events will allow MPI to distribute modules of the MPI Global Knowledge Plan worldwide, with an aim of delivering key career and personal development modules for each stage of an individual’s career.

In a further development, MPI has also expanded its global presence with the announcement of two new partnerships in Asia Pacific. Beijing Tourism Administration (BTA) and Meetings and Exhibitions Hong Kong (MEHK) are the first Asian supporters of MPI’s Global Partner Programme.
