Dubai events company opens Indian’s longest bridge

Dubai based Done Events organised a traffic-stopping fireworks, lights and laser show in front of thousands of spectators to mark the opening of the eagerly-awaited Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai in June.

The US$350 million eight-lane freeway is the first and longest open sea cable-stay bridge in India. It is hoped that the new bridge, which was built by nearly 4,000 labourers and 150 engineers, will help to ease the chronic congestion on Mumbai’s notoriously choked roads. The bridge was inaugurated in the presence of numerous state and federal ministers.

Done Events managing director Richard Bellia said: "Being a part of a historical occasion was an incredible privilege for Done Events, and the public response was phenomenal.

"The experience and multicultural knowledge available from the Done Events team as well as the expertise gained from working in the region on world-class events for prestigious clients such as the Dubai International Film Festival and Qatar Airways, to name a few, have stood us in good stead. We are expanding into overseas markets and putting the UAE on the map as a result."

Launched in 2005, Done Events has a number of high profile government events under its belt and is also credited with staging the first Broadway show in the Middle East with the 2006 staging of Chicago.
