ArenaLea wins Bahrain International Airshow contract

ArenaLea has won a US$27.8 million contract for the complete construction and fit-out of all buildings and structures at the inaugural Bahrain Air Show in 2010.

The company is a brand new partnership between two leading industry players: The Arena Group, which last year expanded into the Middle East market with Arena Dubai and supplied the temporary structures for the Abu Dhabi Golf Championships; and Lea International, a UK-based design consultancy specialising in exhibitions, hospitality suites, retail environments and commercial interiors.

The combined expertise of the two companies helped them to secure the major contract from joint-organisers of the air show, Bahrain Civil Aviation Affairs (BCAA) and Farnborough International Ltd (FIL) after a detailed and intensive tender process.

ArenaLea now has just a few months to realise the project in time for the event which takes place on 21-23 January 2010 at Sakhir Airbase, in Bahrain. The contract also covers the 2012 and 2014 airshows.

Permanent facilities to be constructed for the show by ArenaLea will include the show entrance, VIP enclosure, business chalets, restaurants, a media centre and assorted public area buildings. Work will begin immediately on the manufacture of the special high quality custom-designed buildings.

Commenting on the award Grahame Muir, managing director of Arena Structures said:

“We are very proud to have been entrusted with this prestigious event. This is our single biggest contract win and is a fantastic achievement for everyone involved with the ArenaLea Team.”

Ian Lea, managing director of Lea International, and one of the project directors added: “This is the culmination of months of hard work for the whole team and I know that the final result will be the envy of the entire aerospace community.”

ArenaLea is in the process of setting up a Bahrain office to complement its presence in the region and to enable it to take advantage of future business opportunities in Bahrain.
