VIDEO: How the Final EIBTM Broke Records

During EIBTM in Barcelona last month, the show's parent company  announced a rebrand as "ibtm world" within the incentive business travel and meetings (ibtm) events portfolio of Reed Travel Exhibitions. Onsite, Reed used its latest software upgrade to enable exhibitors to approach and fill available hosted buyer time. The initiative enabled a 20 percent increase in pre-scheduled appointments, which totaled 78,000 over the three day event. Using precision software to match buyers and sellers, the strategy also delivered 25,000 further appointments to the 2013 figure, itself a record just 12 months previously.

ibtm world's Senior Exhibition Director Graeme Barnett saved his final comments of the week to share his satisfaction with reaction to the event, the rebrand, and further initiatives for association buyers and those seeking the latest in meetings and events technologies. 

In thanking the local stakeholders from Barcelona – the convention bureau, the Fira de Barcelona, the hotel association and the DMC, Barnett attributed much of the success of the event to the context that Barcelona delivers and where "connections mean everything."
