The Site Renaissance – Demand for Motivational Events Returns

The combination of AIG-gate in 2008 and the more recent GSA scandal in the US cast a dark cloud over the motivational events and performance improvement sector of the meetings industry. But as America begins to show green shoots of recovery, even the EMEA membership of Site – the Society of Incentive and Travel Executives – is showing optimism for a returning demand for the most powerful communications tool for delivering business results – reward-based motivational events and performance improvement programs.

Gathering in Antwerp, Belgium, the European chapters of Site showed that whilst it may be a relatively small organisation in comparison to more mainstream industry associations, it sure does know how to stimulate positive reactions from live events – especially from new source markets such as the BRICS. Hardly surprising really but as corporations realise the growing importance of retaining and motivating staff, and channel partners alike, it was a reassuring reaction from those on the front line of delivering business results through "meetcentives" and other evolving hybrids of these motivational events and performance enhancing programs.
