The French Caribbean Island of Martinique, also known as the Isle of Flowers, is promoting its MICE sector by participating in IMEX for the first time. From October 16 to 18, 2018, representatives from the Martinique Tourism Authority in the U.S. and from the home-based Martinique will exhibit at the France pavilion, booth #3629.

In a written statement Martinique Tourism Commissioner Karine Mousseau said the destination would use the event to promote the island’s MICE infrastructure, capabilities, natural beauty and 28 weekly direct flights from North America.

During the three-day event, Atout France and Martinique, along with several other French DMCs and destination partners, will host a breakfast on Wednesday, October 17. At the breakfast and throughout the show Martinique will be offering visitors to the booth a chance to win a complimentary hotel stay at a raffle to be announced onsite.

Although the breakfast is already fully booked, appointments to meet with Martinique representatives are still available at France booth #3629.

The Martinique Tourism Authority said it considers business tourism and MICE a high priority. The French Caribbean Island’s MICE infrastructure has a complement of meeting and convention spaces able to host 50 to 900 people and a hotel capacity of 3,400 rooms ranging from 2 to 5-star categories. In addition to the quality and reliability of its Aimé Césaire International Airport—with frequent service to and from the U.S., Martinique has a modern and reliable infrastructure: roads, water and power utilities, hospitals, and telecommunications services are all on par with those of the European Union, officials said.

The Isle of Flowers is also known for its warm people and magnificent scenery. Its 425 square miles of mountainous landscapes include rolling hills, pristine waters, a wealth of unspoiled beaches and coves crowned by the towering Mont Pelée volcano.

The destination also recently hosted the 91st congress of the Association of American Teachers of French, which drew 400 participants to the island.
