Roundup: New Event Hotels in Iceland, Mexico, and Switzerland

From the streets of Reykjavik and the highest peaks of the Swiss Alps to a historic hotel ​in a Mexico city center, a number of luxury hotels are making their international debuts. Iceland recently welcomed the Ion City Hotel in its capital city and Switzerland will soon see a luxury resort sitting nearly 3,000 feet above sea level. In two short weeks, Hotel Rosewood Puebla will open its doors in Mexico.

Ion City Hotel

Currently in its soft-opening phase, the 18-room Ion City Hotel is Reykjavik’s newest hotel. The Design Hotels property is the city-version of its sister property, the Ion Adventure Hotel, which is located just under an hour away from the capital.

The hotel’s 18 rooms and suites range from the 215-square-foot Classic room to the 800-square foot Panorama Suite. Both the Standard rooms and the Deluxe rooms have a window-side sofa, while the Junior Suite has a balcony and a private sauna. The City Suite has a French balcony, a private indoor sauna, and a living room; and the Panorama Suite has an indoor sauna, a powder room with a table and chair, a guest bathroom, and a bar area with the option of a bartender or chef on request.

Ion City Hotel offers farm-fresh cuisine, a gym and a private dining room. No information on the property’s meeting and event spaces was available as of press time.

Hotel Rosewood Puebla

Located not far from Puebla’s main square, the Zocalo, Hotel Rosewood Puebla is housed within a collection of historic buildings centered on a private courtyard. A 300-year old chapel in the courtyard will be in use for wedding ceremonies.

The hotel boasts 79 residentially-styled rooms and suites ranging from Deluxe, Puebla and Premier King rooms to one-bedroom suites, one-bedroom suites with balconies, Briseno suite and the Rosewood Suite.

For meetings and events, Rosewood Puebla offers a ballroom, two boardrooms, patios, a private terrace and a private dining room. In total, the resort has 4,949 square feet of indoor meeting space with catering and event planning options available in all venues.

Burgenstock Resort - Lake Lucerne

Slated to open this summer, Burgenstock Resort – Lake Lucerne sits nearly 3,000 feet above sea level in  Lucerne, Switzerland. The car-free resort will offer 383 rooms and suites, 68 residence suites and a wide range of leisure activities.

Burgenstock Resort - Lake Lucerne will offer guests access to the 10,000-square-meter alpine spa with indoor and outdoor areas, three pools, a fitness park, 15 treatment rooms, and three private spas for massages and beauty treatments.

For meetings and events, Burgenstock Resort – Lake Lucerne has a 2,200-square-meter conference room equipped with the latest technologies. There are also several meeting points throughout the resort.
