Roundup: New Event Hotels in Florida, Chile and Antigua

Earlier this month, a new luxury hotel made a splash in Key West, Florida. Looking forward, the Mandarin Oriental brand will be heading south of the border to Santiago, Chile. In 2020, Antigua will welcome the Caribbean's second Waldorf Astoria property.

The Perry Hotel Key West

Domestically, a new hotel luxury hotel made a splash in Florida when it opened to the public on May 1. Though considered to be in Key West, the new hotel is actually located on a neighboring island next to the Stock Island Marina Village.

The pet-friendly hotel boasts a collection of rooms and suites with views of the saltwater lagoon or the neighboring marina and pool.

For meeting and events, the hotel offers spaces for groups of all sizes. Guests can choose from a boardroom for a more formal meeting, a gathering in the Capitan’s Lounge on the pier or even take it to a yacht or large boat on the marina. The hotel offers an array of options, both conventional and unconventional.

Mandarin Oriental, Santiago

Mandarin Oriental will be heading south of the border. The luxury brand’s first hotel in South America will be in Santiago, Chile. The hotel company announced that it will take over management of a 310-room hotel, which it will rename Hotel Santiago in August 2017. Following a top-to-bottom renovation (the first phase is slated to be completed in August 2018), the Hotel Santiago will be rebranded as the Mandarin Oriental, Santiago.

No information on the property’s meeting and event spaces was available as of press time.

Waldorf Astoria Antigua

In roughly three years, Antigua will join Puerto Rico as the two Caribbean destinations home to a Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts hotel.

Scheduled to open in 2020, the hotel will be located in a cove along the southeastern coast of Antigua at Morris Bay Beach. The hotel will offer 95 guest rooms and 25 branded villas, including beachfront suites and hilltop accommodations. Waldorf Astoria Antigua will boast 30 acres of beachfront as well as a bluff overlooking the Cades Bay.

Waldorf Astoria Antigua will have a specialty restaurant, signature bar and waterside dining concepts.

No information on the property’s meeting and event spaces was available as of press time.
