What’s on Tap for Event Planners in Miami in 2018

From the opening of a newly revamped convention center to a number of new hotels and attractions, Miami’s events industry is looking forward to a big 2018. 

In September the Miami Beach Convention Center will reopen following a major renovation project to improve its sustainability. As part of the project, the venue has added approximately $7 million in public art throughout the site, becoming one of the largest public art commissions in the nation. 

New Hotel Openings and Renovations

  • Opening in early 2018 on Miami’s famous Ocean Drive, The Celino South Beach will be a 132-room loft-style boutique hotel with Latin design and tropical infusions as well as a glass-bottom roof top pool.
  • Right in time for winter, the Palms Hotel & Spa completed a multi-million-dollar renovation to the lobby, reception area and meeting rooms with colonial and island-inspired design.
  • The Julia is Miami Beach’s newest adult-exclusive boutique hotel, situated in the SoFi neighborhood of South Beach built from the foundation of the third oldest hotel in Miami Beach and named after the founder of Miami, Julia Tuttle

New Attractions and Restaurants

The Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami will move into its permanent 37,500 square foot home in the Miami Design District on December 1, 2017, and is the first U.S. project designed by the Spanish architectural firm Aranguren + Gallegos Arquitectos

  • Set to open in 2018, the Time Out Market will be a unique food and cultural experience on Drexel Avenue, bringing the best of the city under one roof with a curated mix of 17 kitchens, three bars, an art space and a demonstration kitchen.
  • Miami’s first ever Italian food hall is set to open in December 2017 with La Centrale, which will span three stories and 40,000 square feet within Brickell City Center, and offer 14 Italian-inspired dining experiences. 
  • Other recent restaurant openings include Stiltsville Fish Bar, a classic seafood cookery; Pink Rock Sea, a Pacific fast casual eatery specializing in Poke bowls; and Coco Bambu, a shared immersive journey into internationally-inspired seafood dishes.
