Walt Disney World's Swan and Dolphin Hotel Begins Renovation
The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotel is receiving a $125-million update, the largest in its history.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, the redesign project (already underway) will update each of the property's 2,267 rooms. The hotel's public spaces, restaurants, meeting rooms, shops, pools and recreational areas will not be impacted and will remain fully operational throughout the renovation.
The guestrooms will get upgraded furniture and larger HDTVs. The color scheme will be a combination of whites, blues and grays. There will be new Westin Heavenly Beds and bathrooms will have back-lit mirrors mounted on iridescent glass tiles.
Currently, the hotel has 84 meeting rooms (including two executive boardrooms), four ballroom options, 110,500 square feet of contiguous convention/exhibit space, outdoor function areas and two business centers.
According to the Orlando Business Journal, the renovations are expected to help boost the marketability of the property and improve visitor numbers.
The project started in August at the Swan Hotel, where approximately 500 of the 756 rooms will be redesigned by the end of this year. The first phase of the Dolphin Hotel rooms will begin next year with the entire project scheduled for completion by the end of 2016.
