EIBTM Kicks Off in Barcelona; 15,000 Expected to Attend


All eyes in the meetings, incentives and business travel industry are focused on Barcelona this week, where EIBTM kicked off today with its first-ever Forum. Barbara Kellerman, a lecturer at Harvard University, was the keynote speaker and spoke about “The End of Leadership.” When the three-day event officially gets underway tomorrow, more than 15,200 meetings professionals will take part in education and networking opportunities, and International Meetings Review is reporting live from the show with publisher James Latham on hand to meet with key industry personnel.

The show will celebrate 25 years at the forefront of the industry and showcase over 3,100 international organizations, representing over 7,000 products and services including venues, hotels, destinations, technology, business travel and event service providers to Hosted Buyers, Trade Visitors and media attending. Attendees of EIBTM 25 will have the option to attend over 110 tailored sessions as part of this year’s education program including industry trends, technology, sustainability and business travel education streams, as well as dedicated sessions tailored for the local Spanish market. The results of the EIBTM Trends Watch will also be released onsite which will provide an insight into the latest trends on which to base future business strategies. Throughout the three days of the show, there will be a range of networking events and opportunities for attendees of EIBTM. This year’s Welcome Reception will be taking place at Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya where attendees will be able to enjoy views over Barcelona. EIBTM’s Club Night will be taking place at one of Barcelona’s hottest night spots, Opium Mar, where attendees are encouraged to wear something silver as part of EIBTM’s 25th birthday celebrations.
