american airlinesLawsuit Hits Big Three U.S. Airlines Over Multi-City Pricing

In air travel news, this week officials filed a federal lawsuit in San Francisco alleging that American Airlines, Delta and United Airlines violated antitrust laws in blocking their least expensive fares from being used on many connecting and multi-city trips.

In recent weeks, Delta reversed a previous policy that allowed reservations computers to combine the lowest price for each one-way leg of a multi-city itinerary and add them up to one price for the entire trip. Under the new rules, those fares could not be combined, and travelers would need to purchase each leg separately to get the lost price. American and United quickly followed suit.

IACC launched a major new rebranding initiative this week. The association will no longer refer to itself as the International Association of Conference Centres, but will simply be referred to as IACC. 

IACC cited the association's recent growth in membership as one of the driving factors behind the rebranding. The organization conducted research with members and industry stakeholders, and concentrated those findings into a set of brand pillars which are aligned with the core values by which IACC wishes to live.

Vista Equity Partners to Acquire Cvent

Finally, news of a big acquisition broke early this week, with private equity firm Vista Equity Partners agreeing to purchase all outstanding shares of cloud-based enterprise event management company Cvent, Inc. 

Under the terms of the all-cash, approximately $1.65 billion deal, Cvent will become a privately held company.
