Survey proves relevance of new US meetings, events and travel show

The importance of the US as a meetings and events destination was confirmed late last year at EIBTM in Barcelona through the results of The Right Solution’s Mood of the Market survey, signifying the relevance of Reed Travel Exhibition’s show AIBTM, which will take place in 2010.

The study revealed that when asked which country in the Americas they had held events in the past 12 months, 40% of respondents said the US, with the next most popular being Brazil with 15%.

The USA was also the fifth most popular destination in the world, and was the leading destination outside of Europe with France, Italy, Spain and Germany above.

“Seeing how the USA has performed in the Mood of the Market survey for the European meetings industry shows what value for money, service and choice the country provides even if the dollar has be strong compared to the euro and sterling,” said Paul Kennedy, group exhibition director, Meetings and Incentives Events, Reed Travel Exhibitions.

“We are launching AIBTM in Baltimore in 2010 at a time when the USA is now once again even more competitive and attractive as a destination. Equally this research shows there is still potential to grow the USA as both a domestic and international destination for the meetings industry and AIBTM will provide that platform.”
