Jack Morton wins football tournament contract

The 2010 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee South Africa recently announced that the opening and closing ceremonies for the FIFA Confederations Cup 2009 – to be broadcast worldwide as part of the opening and final match – will be produced by the VWV Consortium, comprising the VWV Group and Till Dawn Entertainment, along with associate producers Jack Morton Worldwide.

The highly anticpated announcement was made just two weeks before the football tournament, which will be held at Johannesburg’s Ellis Park Stadium, kicks off on 14 June 2009.

“It is a privilege and an honour to help South Africa raise the curtain on this incredible moment in our history,” said Abey Mokgwatsane, chief executive of VWV.

Jack Morton Worldwide, which served as production consultants for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games ceremonies and produced the opening and closing ceremonies for the Athens 2004 Olympic Games, brings global experience to the team.

“We are honoured and delighted to be working with the FIFA World Cup Organising Committee South Africa and the VWV consortium on these high profile and prestigious events,” said David Zolkwer, Jack Morton’s director of public events. “We are looking forward to sharing our international production, technical and creative experience, insight and talent in order to help shape and deliver a series of remarkable and uniquely South African ceremonies.”
