IBTM World just kicked off in Barcelona, and it is scheduled to run through December 1. Destinations are taking the opportunity to showcase their latest offerings for meeting planners at the event.

Lausanne Launches New Incentive Packages

The Lausanne Tourism & Convention Bureau announced three new incentive packages in partnership with the Béjart Ballet, Welcome Swiss and Ovation at this year’s event.

The new packages have been created as part of Switzerland Tourism & Convention Bureau’s national campaign based on art, architecture and culture. Each incentive package can accommodate 10 to 500 people and will offer delegates the opportunity to visit a wide variety of the region’s cultural attractions, Lausanne officials said.

The first package, created in partnership with Welcome Swiss, offers delegates the choice of four themes including: Lausanne through the Century; The Olympic Capital; Lausanne Artists; and Innovation and Design. The package includes a two-night stay in a four-star hotel, a gift on arrival and departure, breakfast, dinner in a local restaurant and all transportation.

The second package, in partnership with the Béjart Ballet, offers delegates exclusive access to tickets to the ballet before its official release, a backstage tour of the ballet and a private dining cocktail reception for a minimum of 20 delegates before the event. The third package, in partnership with Ovation, will offer delegates the opportunity to explore some of Lausanne region’s most famous sites, such as the Chaplin’s World Museum in Vevey, the Lavaux Vineyards and the historic old town.

London Launches Guide to Medical Meeting Offerings

For planners interested in medical events, London is using the event to launch a new guide to the city’s medical meetings credentials.

The booklet was created by London & Partners, the official promotional company and convention bureau for the city, after gathering sector insight which showed event planners would benefit from the new guide while working on corporate medical meetings.

The Greater South East of England (London, Oxford, Cambridge) is home to 2,400 life sciences companies, 19 out of the top 20 global pharmaceutical companies and several world-class research centers, such as the Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult, the Alan Turing Institute and the recently launched Francis Crick Institute, London & Partners said.

In addition to showcasing the city’s selling points, the guide also outlines relevant partner venues and hotels, such as the Royal College of Physicians, ExCeL London and Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London.

IBTM World is set to attract more than 15,500 industry professionals. Other attractions at the show include a Knowledge Theatre with talks on the Brexit vote, safety and risk management, as well as a Technology & Event Services Zone to update planners on what’s new in the meetings industry.
