Glastonbury more than a game to PlayStation

Sony Computer Entertainment UK (SCE UK) has extended its relationship with music magazine Q and the Glastonbury Festival. The extension will see a continuation of Sony PlayStation’s support of The Queens Head stage.
The Queen's Head, previously in the Other Stage field, will be central to William's Green, a new area of the festival to be introduced to this year’s line up.

Bands playing on the stage are selected by Q, with a strong and eclectic bill, including Maximo Park, The Wombats, Tommy Sparks and Jason Mraz, with the huge audio-visual backdrop set provided by PlayStation. Maximo Park will open the stage at 4pm on 25 June.

The SingStar Snug, situated next to the Queen’s Head stage, features Q acoustic sessions during the day and guest DJ sets at night. Each day is interspersed with themed SingStar slots, where festival goers can take to the stage for public displays or can opt for more private moments in specially designed SingStar booths.
“Glastonbury is the original UK festival and sets the standard each year. As such, it’s great for PlayStation to support and partner such a landmark event,” said SCE UK marketing director Alan Duncan. “We look forward to another successful year and are excited to be involved in the new William’s Green area.”

PlayStation has worked with up-and-coming illustrator Kate Moross to design an identity for The Queens Head.

Al Young, creative director at TBWA London, who commissioned and handled the project, commented: “I’m very proud of the PlayStation Queen’s Head identity. Kate Moross has created a vibrant, eclectic visual landscape for us.

“It is about as far away from the conventional and rather heavy-handed approach to corporate branding of festivals as you can get. It is right for PlayStation, right for Glastonbury and right for Q Magazine.”
Experiential specialist Iris Experience is responsible for developing and managing the production concept for PlayStation’s arena at Glastonbury.

“This is the third year that iris has partnered with PlayStation, and it’s our most significant and complex brief to Iris Experience joint managing director Henry Scotland. “As well as the new SingStar Snug, I can’t wait to see the PlayStation brand and Kate Moross’s illustrations brought to life in the Queen’s Head via such an ambitious AV concept.”
