European Best Event Awards opens for entries

Following the success of last year’s European Best Event Awards (EuBEA), this year’s awards opens for entries on 15 May until 30 June 2009.

The EuBEA 2008 saw 105 events entered from 12 different countries. The award for Best Event went to German agency insglück Gesellschaft für Markeninszenierung mbH for the opening Ceremony for the CeBIT fair 2008, with French agency Auditoire and Italian agency Promoconvention, being jointly awarded Best Agency.

“The great success of last year’s EuBEA reinforced our belief that an international award was needed by the European events industry to demonstrate the high standards being produced by all the countries,” said Alessia Bianchi, marketing and communications manager for Italian organisers ADC. “We hope this year we will exceed that. Despite the economic conditions, events are a medium that companies are increasingly turning to, as a powerful tool with which to engage consumers and these awards are a fantastic showcase for the best agencies across Europe.”

This year EVENTS:review is the official UK media partner for the awards, and joint editor in chief Ian Whiteling added: “We were impressed by the standard of the entries last year, but disappointed that so few UK agencies entered. This country produces some of the most innovative and creative events in the world and this is the perfect opportunity for our top agencies to display their abilities to a wider audience. We hope this year we can galvanise the industry more to enter the awards. After all, in tough times, what better way to wow your clients and potential clients than by saying you’re the best agency in Europe?”

The EuBEA is open to events agencies, public relations, advertising, promotion, companies, web agencies, media centres, advertising agencies, publishers, production houses, public bodies and associations, that have carried out a public or private event anywhere in the world, between 1 July 2008 and 30 June 2009.

The awards jury comprises of authoritative international representatives from the corporate world, trade associations, communications experts and journalist experts in the event’s field.

The EuBEA jury will award the following categories: one Best Event award; eight awards for technical excellence; 16 awards per event type (with new categories, this year including sport event, cultural event, and music event), and three special awards.
