BSI unveils free events to help promote green thinking

As part of the London 2012 Inspire programme, BSI British Standards and Positive Impact is launching a series of workshops to help organisers create events that are kinder to the environment, more beneficial to the community and offer greater value for money.
Zero. Event organisers, venues and suppliers to the event management industry can sign up to attend a free, interactive workshop to: uncover the business benefits of implementing sustainability in your events management; understand the background of the British Standard for a Sustainable Event Management System (BS 8901), and find out how the standard is changing and what that means for you; and find out first-hand how London 2012 is implementing sustainability, and the legacy this will leave for the international event industry.
Speakers at the workshop will include David Stubbs, head of sustainability London 2012 Organising Committee, Anne Hayes, head of market development, risk and sustainability at BSI British Standards, and Fiona Pelham, director of Positive Impact.
The first of three Understanding BS 8901 Workshops will be held in Edinburgh on 23 April, 6pm-7.30pm at the Radisson SAS Hotel. For more details and to register, visit www.positiveimpactevents.co.uk. Details of further events in London and Cardiff will be announced shortly.
A year and a half since it was published, BS8901 is being revised to take on board users’ comments. Visit www.bsigroup.com/drafts to review the draft and add your own comments before 31 May 2009.
