WPC 2010 delegates to stay connected with dedicated mobile phone app

The Second World Parkinson Congress – WPC 2010 – in Glasgow, which will be held at the SECC (Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre) from the 28 September to the 1 October, will see international meetings and events management company Congrex creating a bespoke mobile phone application (app).

The WPC is the only global meeting of its kind, including everyone from the Parkinson’s community worldwide, and Congrex hopes its app, which which acts as a networking and navigating tool, will allow delegates get the most out of the event by helping them stay connected throughout the event.

With the WPC expecting more than 3,000 delegates from over 65 countries and more than 180 speakers from 23 countries, the organisers feel the app will make a real difference in sessions for researchers, clinicians, patients, nurses, and a board range of therapists and others. The app will allow delegates to access tailored content, downloads, event details, interactive maps, timely reminders and, most importantly, it provides interactive messaging with speakers and other delegates. On top of this, the Glasgow City Marketing Bureau has also created a Glasgow City iPhone App to help WPC delegates get around the city.
Elizabeth Pollard, WPC 2010 congress manager, said: "We are thrilled with the support we have received from our management company, Congrex, in its creation of an iPhone App highlighting the entire WPC 2010 programme, including speakers and ancillary aspects of the meeting and with the Glasgow City Marketing Bureau with the creation of a Glasgow City iPhone app for the WPC delegates. These two apps put the WPC 2010 ahead of the curve in technology we are offering to our delegates and we are pleased  to be able to make these items available."
Rob Harrison, Congrex regional managing director UK & Benelux, added: “In today’s ever changing world of technological advances Congrex are proud to provide and sponsor the iPhone App for the Second World Parkinson Congress. By providing the latest state-of–the-art mobile technology for the participants they will be able to access the Congress programme, speakers, information, exhibitors and be kept up to date with any changes.  This can all be updated and published as it happens which can only help to enhance the participant experience.”
