Tallinn can now host large international conferences

The most modern conference hall in the Nordic and Baltic countries recently opened in Tallinn, Estonia.

Capable of accommodating large international conferences of up to 1,830 delegates, the new Nokia Concert Hall is located in the Estonian capital’s new entertainment and lifestyle centre Solaris. It will not only be used for conferences, but also for high-profile concerts and theatre performances.

The first conference bookings, as well as the first international red-carpet events for this new facility, have already been made, with the European Film Academy Awards, the leading event of European film industry, taking place in Solaris in 2010.
Peeter Rebane, chairman of the Management Board of Solaris, described the conference centre as a state-of-the-art facility with a unique concept unprecedented in Estonia or anywhere in the Baltics,

“The top-quality sound, light and video technology of the multi-functional conference facilities makes it the best-equipped performance venue in the region,” he said, emphasising that the new conference facilities enable Tallinn to finally accommodate large international conferences.
The centre offers innovative video and sound systems, a 20m by 10m large screen, and facilities for interpreters in its main hall. There are also 12 more rooms available – three classroom-style and nine theatre-style.
There is also a 3,300 square metre lobby area, suitable for catering services and bar facilities, along with a stylish VIP lounge and an additional 600 square metres of exhibition space adjacent to the main entrance. The conference facilities have been designed with disabled people in mind.
The new Solaris centre itself is Tallinn’s new shopping, event, entertainment, lifestyle and cultural centre. It features a seven-screen cinema and arts film centre, and numerous restaurants and cafeterias.
The launch and marketing of the conference centre was co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund. The project was supported by the tourism marketing support programme of Enterprise Estonia, the mission of which is to promote knowledge about Estonia as a travel destination.
