Paris aims to give delegates a warmer welcome

An  official agreement has recently been signed by four key Parisienne bodies to produce Paris ‘Welcome Pack’, which is described as “a complete programme aimed at welcoming, informing, guiding and transporting visitors, exhibitors and delegates to international events held in the various Viparis venues in Paris & Ile de France”.

The bodies involved are Aeroports de Paris, Comite Regional Du Tourism Paris Ile de France, Comite des Exposition de Paris and Viparis, and the Welcome Pack consists of four major components aimed at achieving the following goals:

Welcoming
Event banners will be placed to greet visitors to Paris on their arrival, delivering a welcome message from the organisers. Banners will also be displayed along the major axes leading to events held in Paris Porte de Versailles and Palais des Congres de Paris.

Informing
Event visitors are to be greeted by bilingual hostesses in kiosks inside the customs zones of the Paris Airports, as well as on the platforms of Gare de Lyon and Gare de l’Est railway stations. These hostesses will provide practical information about the event the visitors are attending, the venue and the city’s wider tourist offer.

Guiding
There will be large, high-visibility signage leading visitors, exhibitors and delegates to specially charted shuttle services, as well as signage on the major arterial roads and around the venues themselves, to enhance event visibility.

Transportating
Free and efficient shuttle services will run from airports to the Viparis venues providing a more comfortable journey.

Viparis and its partners’ common aim is to “actively contribute to promoting Paris as an indispensable destination within the highly competitive market of business tourism and professional events”.

From the arrival into Paris airports and railway stations, right up to the entrance into congress halls and exhibition centres, multiple welcoming gestures and services will be provided to enhance delegate comfort.

This agreement took effect on 1 January 2009 for a year, with the view that it will be renewed annually pending agreement between all bodies concerned. A total of 42 major events during 2009 qualify for the Welcome Pack service.
