One Year After Buyout, Congrex Switzerland Finds Strength in Medical Events
Clients of Congrex Switzerland, the PCO/AMC company that was the subject of a management buyout in December 2013, have been renewing their contracts for large-scale events in the medical sector, according to IMR partner MeetPie.
It was just slightly less than a year ago that the PCO emerged from its buyout with bookings for several functions, including the Advanced Prostate Cancer Consensus Conference for the cantonal hospital of St. Gallen last month, and the ninth European Congress on Tropical Medicine and International Health, which is set to take place from September 6 to 10 at the Congress Center Basel.
Emerging from Ashes
In late 2013, the management of Congrex Switzerland (together with investors) acquired the shares of Congrex Schweiz AG and Congrex Travel AG as well as the Congrex Brand, which had collapsed the previous month.
By the following May, the management and investors had raised CHF 1.5 million in cash, poising the business for further growth. By October, the company earned another vote of trust when the International Association of Professional Congress Organisers (IAPCO) decided to bring Congrex Switzerland back on as a member.
The good news got better in Q1 2015, when Congrex Switzerland joined the Maritz Global Meetings Network. Maritz Travel Company consists of Maritz Travel Meetings & Incentives and Experient.
This month, the European Committee for the Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis renewed its association management contract until the end of 2017, and the European Stroke Association signed a further two years contract for the provision of association management services, including the European Stroke Science Workshop, to be held from November 19-21 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.
The mandate for the ECTRIMS summer schools and workshops has been prolonged for the same period.
