On-going dialogue on standardized sustainability code

Members of the GCB German Convention Bureau e.V. and the EVVC European Association of Event Centres have been participating in the dialogue process aimed at determining a uniform sustainability code. On March 13, more than 20 participants attended the panel forum on drafting and a workshop on finding a second version of the sustainability code.

All input made in the preceding Internet dialogue was processed, discussed, assessed and focused. The results of this dialogue have been summarized in a documentation, which made an impact on the code version prepared by the discussion panel.

This second version of the sustainability code has been abridged and edited, as was suggested by numerous dialogue participants in the Internet. Several requirements considered too extensive by member companies were omitted from the draft. A glossary "Praktische Hinweise/Practical Tips" has been compiled with definitions of terms and contents.

There is general consent that implementation of the sustainability code must be voluntary.

You will find the current version at http://www.gcb.de/DEU/tagungsland/nachhaltigkeitscodex.htm

GCB and EVVC would appreciate to receive your feedback on the new version by May 11.
