Electronics giant delivers 3D experience




Panasonic has launched a full high definition (HD) 3D roadshow, designed to showcase the exciting possibilities of 3D viewing directly to UK consumers.

The events provide a preview of the 3D content available, as well as showcasing the technology that the electronics giant is developing to bring full HD 3D programming into people’s home.
 
Brand experience agency BEcause is coordinating and presenting the roadshow, using an 60-metre interactive 3D theatre booth designed by Bates Design and built by the Early Action Group.
 
The new roadshow made its first appearance at the consumer event Grand Designs Live on 9 October 2009. It then visited Gatwick Airport, and further scheduled stops include seven major shopping centres across the UK in the run up to Christmas.
 
The roadshow stand itself features a private 14-seat 3D cinema, where people can watch an exclusive 3D trailer of James Cameron’s eagerly-anticipated 3D film, Avatar, on a 103” Panasonic screen using special 3D glasses.

The other half of the stand is more open, featuring plasma screens, graphics and gaming stations, providing information about Panasonic’s range of HD technologies, ultrathin screens and Blue-Ray recorders.

The roadshow is being presented by a hand-picked team of six BEcause brand ambassadors and four Panasonic UK sales staff.
 
“3D television will be an entirely new experience for consumers, and we are really looking forward to getting out there and showcasing the future of home entertainment directly to the general public,” said John Dixon, head of brand communications at Panasonic in the UK.

“By visiting so many cities, we hope to engage with consumers from across the country and demonstrate not only the potential of these technologies but also the incredible 3D content that is being created.”
 
Commenting on the roadshow, Sharon Richey, managing director of BEcause, said: “The only way to really appreciate the power of 3D technology is to experience it live. This immersive brand experience will give a wide range of consumers an unforgettable taste of what Panasonic has in store for them when it rolls out its first 3D HD TVs next year.”
