DMAI European office welcomes new director

Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) has appointed a new managing director for its European operation, based in Brussels, Belgium.

Kristina T’Seyen joined the DMAI European Office team early 2008, under the supervision of Titta Rosvall-Puplett, then managing director. Following Rosvall-Puplett’s maternity leave, T’Seyen has been appointed as her successor, assuming responsibilities for the development of DMAI’s operations and activities in Europe.

Prior to DMAI, T’Seyen’s areas of responsibilities have included membership management for a US-based international society and management of the European operations for an international educational organisation.

Originally from Belgium, T’Seyen’s professional experience spans the sectors of communications, sales, marketing, public relations, educational training programme development, human resources and association management.

She has experience working in Mexico, Belgium, the US and in several European markets. She holds a degree in political, social and communications sciences from the University of Leuven in Belgium and a degree in HR management from the University of Antwerp Management School.

“This will be an exciting year with DMAI in Europe,” said T’Seyen. “During the global downturn and in challenging times, it is DMAI's priority to be as close as possible to its members and support the industry. Providing the industry with professional development opportunities, performance measurement tools, access to market intelligence and global interactive social networking platform and much more, DMAI supports the members' efforts to excel and stand out as destination.

“More than ever before, DMOs today will need to shape their strategic opportunities and become a community of leaders that lead places, a community where destination marketing really matters. I am eager to be part of the change and offering new opportunities for destinations in Europe.”

In 2009, DMAI in Europe will offer a series of education programmes including:
– Destination Sales Training:
Belgrade, Serbia: Destination Sales Training I (22 & 23 September 2009) and Destination Sales Training II: (24 & 25 September 2009)
– DMAI Leadership Forum – Europe:
Glasgow, Scotland (14-16 October 2009)
