PCMA Leadership on Growth, Disruptors, and Adapting to Cultural Settings

PCMA - Interview: Deborah Sexton and Sherrif Karamat from Fred Productions Ltd. on Vimeo.

The evolution of the Professional Convention Managers Association (PCMA) as a global community is built on education. But as business events play an ever more important role in the strategic development of an organization, education itself has become more strategic. As PCMA President and CEO Deborah Sexton explains, the offer is no longer restricted to event logistics but has extended into event design, content development and the creation of an exciting and engaging experience.

And COO Sherrif Karamat concurs. “Today we are all trying to make sure that business events drive the success of our organization. That requires business acumen and skills in technology, marketing and technical infusion into our events,” he says, “and we have realized that it is better to co-create and co-develop our education around cultural settings and local business norms.”

The building of its global education brand is co-ordinated through regional partnerships with local organizations and supported by the global philanthropic support of the PCMA Education Foundation, which not only offer scholarships and internships, but contribute to essential insight into the disruptors and trends that are set to shape the future of the industry.
