Canada: Latest Updates from Air Canada

by Allan Lynch

Air Canada has made several executive announcements. At the World Air Transport Summit in Doha, Air Canada’s president & CEO Calin Rovinescu was named Chairman of the IATA Board of Governors.

With a background in the law and investment banking, Rovinescu joined the airline in 2000 as executive vice-president, Corporate Development and Strategy, and oversaw Air Canada’s restructuring.  He remains at the helm of the airline.

Air Canada has also announced the appointment of Duncan Bureau as vice-president, Global Sales, effective June 9. Bureau was previously with Malaysia Airlines and WestJet. In announcing the appointment, Ben Smith, executive vice-president and chief commercial officer, said Bureau’s “experience in sales, business development and product distribution in Canada and Asia make him the right candidate as we work with key corporate, trade and distribution partners to create new business.”

For the sake of providing client continuity, Stefano Mastrantonio ([email protected]) remains as meeting and convention manager. General inquiries can also be addressed to [email protected].
