UK organisation brings together associations from across the globe
Delegates gathered, today, in the Crowne Plaza Glasgow for this week’s Summer Eventia conference at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre, which is linked directly to the hotel, making it highly convenient for attendees. This was particularly fortunate, as the recent heatwave across the UK had deserted the Scottish city in favour of strong winds and blustery showers.
Although primarily a UK-based meetings and events industry organistion, Eventia is renowned for its forward-looking approach with respect to championing cooperation and collaboration with other associations in Britain and beyond, and this is reflected in an insightful programme of sessions, which feature a truly global seminar involving key figures from associations across the planet. Entitled ‘Vital Statistics’, it will compare and contrast the meetings and events industry in the UK and overseas, with contributions from Meeting Professionals International’s Didier Scaillet, SITE’s Debbie Donaldson, ISES’ Richard Foulkes, ICCA’s Rohit Talwar and PCMA’s Deborah Sexton, among others. In what Eventia describes as “a true spirit of togetherness”, these representatives of some of the leading meetings and events associations will present key research findings.
MEETINGS:review will be there to experience the session and question the participants on how trade associations worldwide could work more closely together for the benefit of the industry as a whole.
Also on the agenda over the next two days will be the prospects of economic recovery, what other destinations can learn from Winter Olympics 2010 hosts Vancouver about holding global events, how the UK’s new political landscape will affect the meetings and events industry, brand strategy, online marketing and procurement.
MEETINGS:review will be keeping you up to date on key news from The Summer Eventia during the conference, so look out of the specially tagged stories.
