MCCA celebrates the industry's Best work at annual awards




Saatchi & Saatchi X and Elvis both celebrated big wins while Edinburgh-based Multiply snatched best Experiential Campaign at the Marketing Communications Consultants Association’s annual Best Awards last week.

Many of the leading lights from the UK’s marketing communications industry gathered at the Brewery in London to celebrate the most impressive work of last year. Saatchi & Saatchi X notched up one of the biggest hauls of the night winning four Best awards, including the Most Effective Long Term Marketing Communication Campaign award and Best Small Budget Communications. Meanwhile, integrated agency Elvis took home awards for Best Integrated Communications Campaign, the coveted Best of the Best award and top accolade, the Agency of the Year award.

Multiply took home The Best award for Communications Campaign featuring Experiential Marketing for their work with Maxxium UK on the Absolut Disco "Dance Like No One's Watching" campaign. The Pulse Group received the merit for this category in recognition of the Pimm's Summer Tour 2008 campaign for Diageo GB.

Scott Knox, the MCCA's managing director, commented: "This year's awards gave everyone the chance to really take a break from the daily grind and stop to celebrate marketing agencies across the sectors that are continuing to turn out their best work. Both the client and the creative judges commented on the wide variety of entries, and also on the consistently high standard. It was great to see so many people turning out to enjoy the night and my congratulations go out to all the winners."

The Best Awards are designed to recognise achievement in a variety of fields including best communications, creative, planning and professional development. Headed up by Knox, the MCCA acts as an extension of its members' boards, and assists them in becoming better businesses through strong growth and best practise. The annual awards are hotly contested by agencies and clients across the industry – not just its membership, and this year the awards celebrated a record number of entries. Client judges included Louise Proddow, head of branding and marcoms, Nokia Siemens Networks and Angus McIver, group marketing director, Morrisons.
