Denihan Hospitality is the latest hospitality company to raise its commission levels for third-party meeting planners in the wake of Marriott International’s decision to cut group commission levels at its properties in the United States and Canada

As part of the company’s just-announced “We Love Our Third-Party Planners” promotion, Denihan will increase its commissions from 10 percent to 11 percent. The promotion is available to all group intermediaries that conduct business with Denihan.

“We recognize and appreciate the important role group intermediaries play in attracting business and group bookings to our hotels,” said Vera Manoukian, president and chief operating officer at Denihan, in a written release. “These are valued relationships that have been cultivated over many years and the increased commissions we’re offering demonstrates our commitment to a maintaining a mutually beneficial, long-term partnership.”

Denihan said that it has notified all of its intermediary partners of its decision to increase third-party commissions.

The move comes after South Seas Island Resort, a property on Captiva Island, Florida, announced it would raise group commissions as part of its “Lucky 13” promotion. Under that promotion, group commission has been increased to 13 percent for group business booked before April 30, 2018 for travel dates through December 31, 2020.

Last week Eden Roc Miami Beach, Nobu Hotel Miami Beach and Nobu Hotel Los Cabos all told International Meetings Review that they would increase their group commissions from 10 percent to 12 percent in response to the “growing trend of incentive and commission cutbacks,” according to a representative for the properties. The increased commission applies to groups that book a minimum of 10 rooms per night who are already contracted or new groups that are contracted now through December 31, for travel anytime.

Wyndham Hotel Group told International Meetings Review that it would hold its commission levels steady at 10 percent.
