Brandenburg’s meetings tourism riding high

Brandenburg’s meetings industry can be more than simply satisfied, as its online meetings market observation tool, the TagungsBarometer Brandenburg, reveals. In 2011 the number of events per venue averaged 429, beating the German median of 411 events. What is more, meetings, seminars and conventions in Brandenburg lasted 1.7 days, bettering the Germany-wide average of 1.6 days. Last year in Brandenburg 1,719,533 people took part in events, representing a 5.3% increase in comparison to the previous year and even outdoing the positive national trend, where Germany saw growth of 4.5 %. Meetings and event venues and the big conference hotels registered increases in excess of nine percent.

Stefan Thaufelder, manager of the meetings network Netzwerk Tagung MICE, one of Brandenburg’s best MICE service providers, explains this outstanding development with the quality of the service and the constant promotion and marketing of Brandenburg as a meetings destination. “The premium partners do an exceptional job of pampering meeting guests. Added to which, the destinations around Berlin offer an unspoilt natural environment, fantastic event venues and a whole raft of exceptional fringe programmes.” That’s something meeting guests appreciate. And it is confirmed yet again by the results of the Meeting & Event Barometer 2011, which ranks Brandenburg fifth as an events host among the most popular large German territorial states.
