New developments in airlift to Benelux region




 

The skies over Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg are getting increasingly crowded. Here are some noteworthy developments in the Benelux airlift scene.

New airline to take off in 2013

Maastricht Airlines, started by the same owner as Denim Air and Amsterdam Airlines, will take off in early 2013 with regular flights from Maastricht Aachen Airport to Amsterdam, Berlin, Munich and Paris. In 2014, they plan also to add on London (Southend) and Copenhagen.

Thai adds flights from Brussels to Bangkok

Thai Airlines has announced February 16th 2013 as the start date for the 4th non-stop weekly flight between Brussels and Bangkok.  

Schiphol largest airport of EU

In 2011 Schiphol was the largest airport for flights within the European Union. On the list of airports to and from the EU , Schiphol is ranked in 4th position. London Heathrow, Paris Charles de Gaulle and Frankfurt are the top-3. Schiphol is the number one airport for flights within Europe and has held this position since 2006; it is followed by Paris Charles de Gaulle, London Heathrow and Frankfurt.
