EMIF 2011 plays the ‘quality’ card

EMIF 2011 reached its goal and has set the standards for a new future as an important European networking platform in the meetings industry. There are plenty of positive developments to be seen from this latest edition of this Brussels-based meeting fair. With 2.365 unique visitors over two days and 158 exhibitors, EMIF experienced a ratio of 15 visitors to each exhibitor. Immediately after the show, many exhibitors expressed their satisfaction with the quality of the visitors. The strong partnerships with the Belgian and European association markets open new perspectives for the future.

So save the dates now for 2012: the next edition of EMIF will take place on 13 & 14 March, in the Tour & Taxis Exhibition Centre in Brussels.

Quality on all fronts

With EMIF’s incorporation into the portfolio of the Artexis Group’ upscale events; the appointment of Cordula Riedel - an experienced international meetings professional - as EMIF Exhibition Director and the strengthening of the EMIF team; the stakes were high.

"During the preparation, we set standards for quality on all fronts", explains Cordula Riedel. "Quality of our exhibitor offer, quality in the content of our seminars, quality in our speakers and quality of the visitors we set out to attract. We have succeeded in this and have thus set the standards for the future." All parties agreed that the actual quality of visitors was higher than in previous years. Responses from trade visitors, association delegates and hosted buyers were also positive; many appreciated the excellent seminar programmes, as well as the choice of exhibitors.

And you do not only have to take our word for it:

  • Jan Wittouck, Flanders-Brussels Convention Bureau: "There was a cosy atmosphere on the show floor. Especially the quality of the visitors was better than in previous editions. EMIF has regained its position on the local market. We have confidence in the future, especially since we have been informed about all the efforts the team will make in the years ahead."
  • Anthony Jean-Mertens, Square: "It was a very good show."
  • Marc Mestdagh, Belgian Society of Association Executives: "The feedback I received from visitors about the fair was very positive regarding the number and diversity of exhibitors."
  • Dries Jacobus, SITE Belgium: "EMIF 2011 was as such very positive for us! The general remark which I got was that it was too quiet at some stages of the day. Not too many visitors, but the quality was good. That is what we need. If you can double the number of visitors and keep the same level of quality, you will have an outstanding show!"
  • Anouk Kreek, Nike Europe Corporate Services (Hosted Buyer): "It was a great venue and a nice set up that absolutely represented where exhibitions (and meetings/events) should be nowadays. It was fresh, modern and unique with a mobile meeting room. For me the seminars were the main interest and they were different (in a positive way), cutting edge, very informative and with some great speakers."
  • Antonio Hermosilla, GP DMC (Hosted Buyer): "The formula is good, the networking opportunity excellent and you created a very interesting programme with good professionals. I wish you the best of success for the future and count on me if you repeat the experience."
  • Strong partnerships

Positive results from new partnerships were also visible during the show. Two much-appreciated Association Programmes (organised by the European and Belgian Society of Association Executives and open to the public), a good turnout for the corporate seminars and several association and exhibitor networking events all over the show floor contributed to the optimistic vibe. The strong bond with the association market opens new perspectives for EMIF to extend these and other partnerships for 2012 and beyond.

Promo Factory

Another successful initiative was the brand new show Promo Factory, which took place next to EMIF. Brigitte Bodson, BAPP (Belgian Association of Promotional Products): "I congratulate you once more with the organisation of this first edition of Promo Factory. I think everybody was very satisfied."

EMIF 2012

With even more enthusiasm, huge ambition and the backing of the key industry players and associations, the EMIF team is already preparing the 2012 edition, which will take place on 13 & 14 March in the Tour & Taxis Exhibition Centre in Brussels.

Paul Kennedy

And, last but not least, EMIF announces the arrival of Paul Kennedy as an adviser on the exhibition’s future development. Paul has wide-ranging experience of the international meetings, events and exhibition industry. His role will focus on devising a strategic business plan to develop EMIF 2012 into a strongly hosted buyer led show. Kennedy will also be advising on the formation of an international advisory panel which will provide insight into how the show will develop in the fast changing meetings industry marketplace.
