Club Melbourne Ambassadors Recognized in Australia Day Honours

Australia's meetings and events scene saw some notable recognition yesterday: Six Club Melbourne Ambassadors have been officially recognized on the Australia Day 2015 Honours List for their medical and scientific contributions and service to the community.

Two Ambassadors, Professor John Funder and Professor Brendan Crabb, were among only five in the country appointed to the Companion of the Order of Australia, "for eminent achievement and merit of the highest degree in service to Australia or to humanity at large."

“These awards are a huge honour and I congratulate each of our Ambassadors on their achievements and recognition in this year’s Honours List," Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre Chief Executive Peter King said in a statement, noting that Club Melbourne includes representatives from fields including science, medicine and technology who volunteer their time to attract international conferences to the city. “We are incredibly grateful for the role they play as Ambassadors, promoting our state’s expertise to the world, boosting our economy and bringing thought leadership to Victoria, and also the significant contribution they make to the community.”
