Australia: Value of Business Events Under Discussion

Conference & Event Society Asia PacificThe strategic and economic value contribution the business events sector makes to the Australian economy was under discussion at the Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) conference, held in Sydney this week (December 9).

The panel discussion, titled Incentives Conferences & Events – The Next ICE Age, was facilitated by Nigel Gaunt, inaugural President of Incentive, Conference & Event Society Asia Pacific (pictured left) and included Association of Australian Convention Bureaux (AACB) executive director, Andrew Hiebl (pictured second right); Daniella Tonetto, regional director of sales and marketing for Starwood Sales Organisation Pacific (pictured second left); and Aileen London, senior manager, Global Meeting Services JAPAC for Oracle (pictured right). The session followed on from the launch of a Deloitte Access Economics report on Australia’s international business events.

“The recent launch of the Deloitte Access Economics report on Australia’s international business events has allowed AACB to provide an update on the value business events provide to the Australian economy, including the economic and beyond tourism benefits,” said Hiebl.
