Australia: Canberra Convention Bureau announces new Board

The Canberra Convention Bureau has announced a number of changes to its Board, which are expected to emphasise the Bureau’s core strengths and facilitate a new strategic direction.

Changes include the election of existing members Patrick McKenna, general manager of the Hellenic Club, as Chairman, and National Convention Centre manager, Stephen Wood, as the new Treasurer. Carol Mills, secretary Parliamentary Services, will continue in her capacity as Deputy Chair.

The Board also welcomes Stephen Byron, managing director of Canberra Airport; Malcolm Snow, chief executive of the National Capital Authority, and Tracy Atherton, general manager of Hotel Hotel. ACT Chief Minister, Andrew Barr, has reappointed David Dawes, director general of the Economic Development Directorate.

Canberra Convention Bureau chief executive, Robyn Hendry, says that the changes strengthen the influence and importance that the Bureau holds within the ACT region economy.
