Australia: Adelaide Convention Centre exceeds earthly expectations
The Adelaide Convention Centre (ACC) has continued to demonstrate environmental leadership during 2013/14 by exceeding EarthCheck best practice in eight key areas including water savings, waste management and reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.
These achievements have been made more remarkable by the Centre undergoing a major expansion, which has impacted energy and water use, as well as having an outstanding year for conferences and events.
The outstanding results follow the Adelaide Convention Centre being given EarthCheck Gold Certification in January having achieved five years of continuous silver certification.
“The whole team at the Centre is on-board, and particularly through the expansion works and a busy year, they’ve proved to be incredibly diligent,” said Adelaide Convention Centre chief executive Alec Gilbert.
“Sustainability not only makes sense environmentally but also economically and in turn this translates into better value for our clients.”
