American Airlines CEO Doug Parker to Speak at GBTA Convention
The Global Business Travel Association has tapped Doug Parker, CEO of American Airlines Group and American Airlines, Inc. to be a featured speaker at Center Stage during this year’s GBTA Convention, slated to run July 26-30 in Los Angeles.
Michael W. McCormick, GBTA's executive director and COO called Parker “an industry leader undertaking one of the largest mergers in industry history" who he expects to "provide great insight for attendees navigating the business travel industry.”
Parker became CEO of American Airlines Group on Dec. 9, 2013 after the successful close of the merger between US Airways and American Airlines. Previously, Parker served as Chairman and CEO of US Airways where he led the company to record revenue growth, operational performance and profit margins that outpaced most industry peers. Prior to the merger of US Airways and America West Airlines in 2005, Parker was the Chairman, President and CEO of America West, taking the role just ten days before Sept. 11, 2001, leading the carrier through the difficult period.
Other Center Stage industry featured speakers at the GBTA Convention 2014 include U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Administrator John S. Pistole; Chairman of the Board, President and CEO of United Airlines Jeffery A. Smisek; and CEO of Delta Airlines Richard Anderson.
Nearly 7,000 attendees from all facets of the business travel industry are expected to attend five days of sessions. Attendee registration is open now. New programs and speakers will be unveiled throughout 2014.
