India’s Creative Travel scoops gong at TTG Travel Awards

The recent IT&CMA show in Bangkok also played host to the 21st TTG Asia Travel Awards. This year a total number of 48,300 nominations were received from TTG’s readers across the Asia-Pacific. Based on these results, 25 new nominees emerged across various categories.

The awards ceremony, which this year took place at Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld, has grown to be one of the most important in Asia. With 76 awards spanning four categories, the ceremony acts as a benchmark for standards across Asia within the travel sector.

Winners this year included Hong Kong Disneyland for Best Theme Attraction, City of Dreams for the Best Integrated Resort, and Harbour Plaza Hotels & Resorts in the Best Local Hotel Chain award categories. The most significant change is witnessed under the Resorts – Individual Property category where all four award winners are new from 2009.

More notably, Thai Airways International clinched two separate awards under Best Airline – Business Class and Best South-East Asian Airline. Similarly, Best Western International emerged yet again as winners with the Best Mid-Range Hotel Brand for Hotel Chains and under the Outstanding Achievement Awards for Best Marketing and Development Effort.

Meanwhile, Creative Travel Pvt. Ltd. India was recognised as the Best Travel Agency in India. Winners for the Travel Agent Awards and Travel Supplier Awards category are determined by votes cast by TTG readers, across Asia Pacific.

On receiving the award, joint managing director Rajeev Kohli, said: “The fact that this award is a result of the collective votes polled by the larger hospitality and aviation industry across Asia makes it a great, great, great honour for our team at Creative”

The annual TTG Travel Awards reflect the dynamism of the travel industry. To stay relevant and represent the achievements and contributions of the industry, all awards categories and titles are reviewed and new awards might be added each year.

TTG Asia Media’s managing director, Darren Ng, said: “We need to be adaptable and flexible now, especially with the new kind of working environment the industry faces these days, while still managing to maintain a benchmark for exemplary standards of service and accessibility.”
