Hilton to Open First Curio Hotel in Washington, DC

Hilton has announced the signing of The Darcy, Curio Collection by Hilton, to its Curio Collection of boutique hotels. The new hotel, which is the Collection’s first in Washington, DC, is slated to open in mid-2017.

The hotel will have approximately 5,500 square feet of meeting space, which will allow for flexible room sizes and include contemporary, state-of-the-art audio visual options. The hotel is a ten-minute walk from Metro stations at Dupont Circle and McPherson Square and three miles from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

The 226-room hotel is in the heart of Washington, D.C., just off Scott Circle. Only three blocks from Dupont Circle and Logan Circle, and six blocks from the White House, The Darcy’s central location will allow guests to easily visit the city’s many monuments, attractions and museums, including the Verizon Center and Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery, Hilton said.

The Darcy’s design will focus on clean and classic architecture with accents of distressed metals and bright colors. Subtle cherry blossom patterns and abstract artwork of magnolias will connect the hotel to D.C.

Chefs Robert Wiedmaier and Brian McBride created the hotel’s restaurant, Siren, which will serve locally sourced ingredients paired with fresh seafood. Lil’ B, an intimate coffee shop and eatery, will be led by celebrity Chef David Guas, who brings his New Orleans style to the cafe. Additional amenities will include a fitness center, business services, room service, valet parking, concierge services and programming with business and leisure travelers in mind.

Natirar in New Jersey to Open New Grand Ballroom in June 2017

In New Jersey, the 500-acre Natirar estate in the Somerset Hills has announced plans to restore its Tudor-era mansion and construct a new Grand Ballroom by June 2017.

The new Grand Ballroom will accommodate up to 225 guests and will be accessed from the mansion by a connecting Conservatory

The estate’s 35,000-square-foot Mansion dates back to 1912 and has a rich history, at one point serving as a residence for the sons of Morocco’s late former King Hassad II. The restoration will retain many of the estate’s historic features, including arches, stone fireplaces, heraldic carvings, leaded glass windows and period lighting fixtures. When it reopens in 2017, its Great Room will once again welcome indoor receptions and cocktails while outdoor gatherings will be accommodated on the brick patio of the Marquee, with views of the countryside. For wedding parties, a Bride’s Room and Groom’s Room will each offer a private space for last-minute preparations and special moments with loved ones.

Set along the Rarity River, the estate is less than an hour from New York City and 90 minutes from Philadelphia. The venue only hosts one event at a time.
