CIC Supports North American Meetings Industry Day
A series of activities conducted by the 33 national and international association members of the Convention Industry Council will be held across the United States, Canada, and Mexico to raise awareness of the value that the meetings industry delivers across all strata of business, society, and the economy. These activities will be held on April 16, designated as the North American Meetings Industry Day, or NAMID.
At PCMA's Convening Leaders conference in Chicago last month, IAEE President and CEO David DuBois (the new chairman of the board of directors of CIC), said that the initiative is targeted at business-users of events following the momentum achieved by the Meetings Mean Business Coalition (the organizers of NAMID), but also at local constituents, government, policy makers, and media throughout cities, counties, and provinces across North America.
Benefits Beyond Tourism
DuBois stressed the importance of highlighting the effects on healthcare and other social outputs of meetings, as well as the direct impacts in business growth and job creation that result from a strong local meetings infrastructure and hospitality support sector.
