Americas: Twelve Drivers of Meeting Site Decisions

Based on a large database of more than 80 destinations and 60,000 business events delegates used for Pacific World monthly Destination Index, we conducted a study to understand the recent key considers driving the choice for a destination. Here are the 12 identified trends:  

1. The Old and the New
Top destinations have been able to reinvent themselves, taking advantage of their cultural and natural heritage and investing in new/trendy/modern structures. Ancient and new—destinations that offer a combo of historic and state-of-the-art venues and hotels are the most in demand.

2. Global Companies’ Strategic Headquarters
Large international companies have their headquarters offices or factories in a majority of the top destinations in the Pacific World Index, influencing positively the development of the MICE business there. Visits to factories combined with conventions and meetings are often demanded especially among leading Asian cities.
