Americas: A Tribute to Tribute Bands—And Other Entertainment Tips
by Jaki Baskow, CEO and President, Baskow & Associates
I participated on an enlightening, inspiring, and informative panel at this month’s Financial & Insurance Conference Planners Annual Conference in Hawaii, sharing a behind the scenes look at booking entertainment for events.
After 39 years in business it never shocks me when a rider pops up that is challenging. I recently booked a famous comedy magic act. Simple—until the production manager told us they needed a 40-foot stage. My client’s stage was 20 feet. This could have cost the client another $20,000 but since I had investigated ahead of time, I talked the production manager into working with us and we found a solution. It is so important when booking an entertainer to ask early about the act’s rider, “backline,” and other things that may pop up. There should be no surprises.
