Incentives may soon be undergoing a sea change, according to a panel of incentive experts at a recent industry conference. While they’re subject to a pressure-cooker of influences like short lead times, a call for getting even more creative with gifts and activities, and satisfying increasingly discerning incentive winners, the result may end up being far more than having fun in beautiful locales—incentives in the future may actually help winners transform into better versions of themselves.

The panel held participants riveted as they shared trends and pain points during the education day of the Incentive Research Foundation Invitational, held May 27–30 at the Trump National Doral Miami. Greg Bogue, vice president, experience design, Maritz Travel; Mike May, president, Spear One; and Todd Zint, CMM, CMP, vice president, meetings and event strategy, NFP; and moderator Damon Riddle, account supervisor, BI Worldwide—examined some of the hottest topics in incentive travel today.
