Americas: NH Collection is a Brand to Watch for Meetings

With a strong presence in Europe and Latin America for leisure and business travelers, Madrid-based NH Hotel Group has plans to grow its meeting and event business, which currently accounts for 25 percent of revenue. The company also will make a splash in New York when it closes the existing Hotel NH New York on Madison Avenue and 38th Street in December for a “massive renovation” so it can join the NH Collection portfolio of upper-upscale hotels. When it reopens in mid-2016, says Chief Commercial Officer Rufino Pérez Fernández, “everyone will talk about this hotel.”

An NH Collection hotel also is planned for Miami, but details have not been announced.

Meeting and incentive business from U.S. groups is “growing,” says Fernández, adding that the hotel company has created partnerships with some intermediaries such as HelmsBriscoe in order to “strengthen our visibility” in the U.S. market.
