Americas: New Research Sets Benchmark For Green Meeting Practices

recycleWith sustainability a strong focus among corporate brands and their customers, a new research project seeks to measure the green practices of Fortune 500 companies now as compared to five years ago—particularly in the realm of meetings and events.

“Evidence points to many organizations implementing sustainable practices in their events in recent years, but currently no organization is collecting their stories or communicating their impact,” said Roger Simons, CMP, president of the global board of directors at the Green Meeting Industry Council and global sustainability manager for MCI, based in Singapore. “The type, extent, and frequency of these practices in events remain unclear and largely undocumented.”

GMIC, the nonprofit membership-based organization seeking to share and support sustainable event standards worldwide, is spearheading the project, titled “An Analysis of Corporate Brands: How Corporate Brands Use Live Events to Underscore Sustainability Practices,” in partnership with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Center for Professional & Leadership Studies.
